Our organization would like to be able to use a directory to display names of recently deceased constituents so that we do not need to maintain a manual list. I have created such a directory and based it on a query looking at deceased date and the date we were notified (a constituent notepad date, for us). I've also sorted my query so that the most recently deceased/recently notified constituents rise to the top. When I view my directory based on this query, though, it defaults to being sorted by name alphabetically. JavaScript could be implemented to perform a custom sort based on deceased date, HOWEVER, because deceased date is not an available field in NetCommunity, I can't write any JavaScript to be able to sort based on this date. The workaround I have been suggested is to duplicate deceased date as a constituent attribute in Raiser's Edge, which, as you can imagine, could be problematic for a number of reasons, the least of which is data integrity/maintenance. Please add this as an available field in a future release!!
