I just spent a few hours setting up a new donation form using Donation 2.0, only to realize that they are not able to issue tax receipts to the donor.
One of the perks of online donations is that the donor receives their tax receipt right away via email. It saves time for the donor, as well as time and resources on the admin end because we don't have to issue one manually and use postage to mail it.
This is a feature of the regular donation forms, but for some reason is not a feature in Donation 2.0. It's a necessary for charities (at least in Canada) to issue tax receipts when someone makes a donation – so in my opinion it's necessary for online donation forms to issue receipts.
