Separate receipt grid merge field into its components, or allow modifications to its layout and content.

I *really* need to be able to modify how the content of the Receipt Grid merge field available in the Payment 2.0 part's acknowledgement email. The Receipt Grid, however is pre-formatted (and ugly, IMHO), and includes content I don't wish to display. Why not separate the single Receipt Grid merge field into multiple merge fields representing its component parts?
