Currently NetCommunity is hard coded to allow 255 characters to be submitted into a Gift Attribute or Participant Attribute text box via online giving or event forms. There are situations where we do not want to allow 255 characters and instead want to limit submissions to 50 characters - eg. text to be printed on a name plate. Without the ability to set character limits, we are dependent on our donors and registrants to count characters before submission or we have to follow up when they submit too many characters. I understand we can't increase the character limit beyond 255 characters, but we should definitely have the ability to limit the number of characters that can be submitted into these fields to a setting that is less than 255 characters.
